Hi All!
What can I say?!?! Throw a second kid in the mix and I quit blogging. I'm going to try to get back to it in the new year, but I'm not calling it a resolution...those never work out. The blog started as a way to keep our families up to date on all things Corrigan while we were out in California. I decided to keep blogging when we returned. I enjoyed looking back at old posts, and knowing that all that fun stuff was documented for the kids when they get older.
Ok... now on to all the things we have been up to since I last did an entry at the end of SUMMER!!!! Insert eye rolling emoji here!
Our little Graham is growing so fast!!!! He started crawling in mid December, and right after Christmas he started pulling up on EVERYTHING!!! He is all over the place. I can't keep up with him. His favorite thing to say is bye-bye-bye-bye. He makes lots of sounds but no momma or dada yet. I'm working hard on the momma everyday but he just isn't cooperating.
He has finally gotten better at sleeping. No sleep was our cross to bear for like the first 7 months of this kids life! It was mostly our fault, or I guess I should say my fault. Every time he whimpered I jumped up and got him. I had to retrain myself ( you forget everything you knew with your first kid) to let him try to soothe himself. It took a solid week of being strong and not getting him out of the crib and rocking him every time he made the slightest noise. After that he was sleeping like a champ. Putting him to bed awake in his crib has helped tremendously. He went from catnapping several times a day to finally taking a morning and afternoon nap!! He also started sleeping through the night. He is an early riser, but I can take that if he just sleeps through the night. We have had setbacks due to teething (the kid cut like 7 teeth), congestion, and the holidays, but now it is easier for us to get back to our routine and schedule.
Graham is the sweetest little boy ever!!! He loves being down on the floor with his toys and his sissy. He even likes to play with non-toy items, like water jugs, boxes, anything that belongs to his sister, and if he finds some paper his day is made :) He is also a lover of all the foods. He has been a champ at the solid foods. I'm making his food more chunky now and we are starting to give him what we are eating if it is soft and bland enough. He had chicken noodle soup for the first time a couple of nights ago and loved it. The kid literally gets so mad when he is finished eating, no matter how much you feed him!!
Mattie is growing just as quickly as Graham. I swear she is going to be taller than me soon! We are so super proud of our sweet girl. She works so hard in school, is kind to others, and loves to read. Adam and I are in awe of her all the time. Sometimes we just look at each other and say "is she 6 or 12?" She is so smart and has such a great sense of humor. She totally cracks us up. I had a moment the other day...I saw my teenage years flash before my eyes. Mattie wanted to hang her Taylor Swift poster on the back of her door, and I almost choked up a little. That's really all I can say about that :\
Watching her and Graham together melts my heart. Her love for him is amazing, and she is so protective. When I got pregnant with Graham I was a little worried about the age gap, but seeing how close they already are put that worry to rest.
Mattie also had a great fall soccer season, and I think she fell in love with soccer all over again. She had such a great coach and she really had fun with the girls on her team.
Being the crazy people that we are we decided to paint our kitchen cabinet right before Thanksgiving. We had been talking about it for a while and of course it took us forever to actually pull the trigger. It was a huge project. It was really the last big thing on our list to do to the house. It ended up being way more work than Adam and I anticipated. I'm not going to lie, there were a few brief moments where were were like " I think we really messed up trying to do this ourselves." In the end it all worked out, but we for sure had to talk each other off the ledge a couple of times.
There was a great deal of prep work that had to be done before we even started. There was also a lot of waiting for things to dry, second coats, touch ups, and then putting the kitchen back together.
We were both really pleased with how it turned out. It made our counter tops pop, and really brightened up our little kitchen. Now to change out the backsplash ;)
| I'm stressed just looking at this picture...you all will be happy to know I got rid of a lot of the clutter in my cabinets :| |
| Prepping: These things had to be cleaned, deglossed and primed! |
| Adam killing it with the paint sprayer |
| All finished!!! |
Well our marriage survived painting the kitchen cabinets. If it can survive that it can survive anything. Shout out to CC and Grampa for watching the kiddos so we could get in a full day of painting without little fingers trying to touch everything. HAHAHA.
XOXO
