California Bucket List #32 and Mother's Day!

What a wonderful weekend!  We decided to take a little day trip to Big Sur on Saturday to celebrate Mother's Day.  What an amazing and beautiful place. Once you get to Carmel, the drive from there to Big Sur is just absolutely gorgeous.   I don't really think that there is a place along Hwy 1, as you drive down the coast that is not beautiful.  I feel like the pictures do not even do it justice.

Our first stop was just a little pull off on the side of the road where there was a nice little walk down to the beach.  All the flowers were in bloom, which just made it that much more beautiful.  If that's even possible.

This is what you get when you say "Make a funny face".

Our next stop was Bixby Bridge.  So pretty!

The very nice guy who offered to take this picture for us put the focus on the bridge instead of us.  Oh, well thanks anyway :)

Still taking pictures.
Still taking pictures…she is her mother's daughter.

Our next stop in Big Sur was Pfeiffer Beach/McWay Falls.  You can walking down this path and see the most amazing view of a beach down below with a water fall that is on the beach.  There was no easy path that we could find to get down to the beach.  I assume there is a trail, but with a three year old in tow we decided not to try to find a way down to it.
Walking through a tunnel to get to the overlook.

Kind of hard to see but there is a water fall on the left.

Mattie's face is priceless!!!

Someone had wrote on the beach with rocks "Love Made It". (Bottom Left)
After the stop at the beach we decided to start heading back towards home and check out some stops that we wanted to see along the way back.

We saw some cars pulled off on the side of the road and a dirt path that appeared to head towards the ocean.  Of course we had to check it out.  It ended up having two separate paths to two different little coves.

Another tunnel (this one was wooden) out to a cove.

After this amazing little cove we hit the trail again and made it to another little cove with an awesome rock beach.  There were little "rock stacks" all around that people had stacked up.  We made our own little rock tower, our signature left in the rocks :)

Stacking our rocks.

The Corrigan's creation.

Other stacks of rocks.

Mattie and I looking for rocks (and my creative husband managed to get our rock creation in the picture as well) :)

Looking for rocks.  One of Mattie's favorite things to do. :)

Time to head home!  What an incredible day spent with my two favorite people.

It was so random to see cows grazing right next to the cliffs and the ocean.
After our busy and adventurous day on Saturday we spent our Sunday a little more low key.  Just a lazy day by the pool.  We met some more neighbors and Mattie made some new friends.  I would call that a successful day!

What a perfect weekend!!!  We had such a wonderful time together.  I am beyond blessed to have Adam and he gave me the greatest gift ever…Mattie.  He always make Mother's Day awesome for me!  These two make life pretty perfect!
XOXO
