I Expected The Rocky Mountains To Be A Little Rockier Than This...

 Hi All,

We have been one busy family.  We are in the full swing of school, and Mattie is loving her class and her teacher.  Last week she was out of school for Fall Break and we headed out to Colorado for vacation.  We had been planning this trip for a couple of months.  Adam's cousin Eric was getting married and the date happen to fall at the end of Mattie's school break.  Since we were moving at the beginning of the summer we decided to skip a summer vaca and make this our vacation.  IT was worth the wait.  We had such an amazing time!!!

Getting ready for this trip was ridiculous.  Traveling for any length of time with kids requires so much prep and work!  Not to mention I was totally nervous about Graham's first flight.  He is kind of a liability and doesn't sit still for very long.  We had a 10:00 am flight on Monday morning, so I was just hoping I could wear him out enough in the airport so he would nap.  Lucky for us we were able to do just that and he slept for about the first half of the flight.

I know you all got the Dumb and Dumber reference in the title.
Thanks Adam for always coming up with awesome titles for blog posts when we travel!!

We opted to walk instead of taking the train.  Hoping it would wear Graham out.

Getting ready to take off!
Fell asleep before the plane even left the ground.
Awake and eating all the snacks and watching Curious George

This girl is always an awesome traveler.

Waiting to get off the plane.  This was the last 15 minutes in a nutshell.
After making our way out of the airport, we grabbed our rental car, got lunch and then started heading towards Colorado Springs.  On our way we of course had to take a small detour to Red Rocks.  We were there about 10 minutes when they announced the park was closing to get ready for a concert that night. No worries we needed to be on our way anyway.  Item 1 checked off our list!

Ready to roll! Graham was thrilled to be forward facing.  Sorry buddy just for this trip.
2 minutes after getting the rental car.
Lunch at Biker Jim's in Denver.
I will literally go/eat anywhere that I know Anthony Bourdain has been.
Red Rocks
After traveling most of the day we all are still smiling...that's a win!

Red Rocks was our last stop of the day before heading to the hotel.  We checked into the hotel and let the kids decompress and chill.  We grabbed a quick dinner and hit the sack.  We were exhausted from traveling and wanted to get an early start on Tuesday.

Tuesday:  We decided that we would go to Garden of the Gods and try to hit Seven Falls as well, if we had enough time.  In true Corrigan fashion we managed to do both.  We were still on Georgia time so everyone was up at like 6:30 am, so we just went with it.  We got ready, had breakfast and started our adventure.

Graham stayed in the stroller Mattie is pushing for about 5 seconds.
He was all about exploring.  Note to self...no need for a stroller next time.

Our trip in a nutshell...Graham didn't want to take any
pictures and he was consistently missing a shoe!

Balance Rock

As the day went on we wised up and put Graham in the backpack.
When we were in a place where he couldn't walk around this was the perfect choice!

Next we went to Seven Falls.  The pictures could never do this place justice.  You walk down this paved road in between these rocks. It is just amazing.  I could have just spent the whole day walking the path, trying to take it all in.

We let Mattie take some videos on the trip.  She loves to pretend she has her own YouTube channel.  Adam and I thought it would be fun to get her perspective of the trip.  We did have to have a lesson on not moving the camera so fast and paying attention to what you are videoing ;)  It has been so much fun going through them and seeing what she captured.

Part 1

Part 2

Up to the observation deck we go.
It was a lot of steps to the first overlook.
She was thrilled I wanted to take a picture.

Base of the falls.
Now to head up these crazy steep steps to the first observation deck .
First observation deck.
:)
So pretty!!
Now we have to go up these sketchy steps!!!
They are scarier than they look.
Made it to the top!
And now we go back down.
Mattie was the only one of us not panicking.

These two always have fun where ever they go!
Our first two days in Colorado were a huge success.  Colorado is so beautiful and I took so many pictures (multiples of the same things because I could not stop myself) that I'm breaking the trip up into two blog posts.

Next Post:  Last day in Colorado Springs, Aspen, and the wedding in Denver :)

XOXO
