It has been a busy several weeks for us. We decided to move from the condo to a townhouse in Pleasanton. So for the last several weeks life has revolved around moving and getting settled into the new house.
This was the first weekend that we have been able to get out and have an adventure. We decided to go to Calaveras Big Trees State Park. It was a two and a half hour drive, but totally worth it. The park known for their Giant Sequoias, some of which are thought to be 2,000 years old. The Giant Sequoias only grow now on the west slope of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California. They are huge!!! The park was so nice. We enjoyed some hiking and the trails that we took were easy for Mattie. We mostly enjoyed the North Grove, but did venture further into the park to see the river.

Little did we know that this would be the smallest tree we would see...

At the beginning of the trail their was a HUGE stump that you could stand on. They actually had stairs to climb to the top!

On top of the tree stump, I couldn't even get it all in the shot.

This is the fallen tree that goes with the stump :)

Our silly girl!

The ends of these fallen trees were so big that Mattie could climb in them! So crazy!

Finding big cones.

Mattie and her stick or as she calls it her wand.

Still has her stick!

Having a little lunch in the park. While eating we kept getting harassed by this bee.

The bee attacked us through our WHOLE lunch.

Guess who won the battle?!?! Hence the title of this blog post!
After the North Grove we drove into the park further and to see the river. It was gorgeous!

Still has her stick. Wouldn't even put it down for a family photo.

She insisted on putting her feet in the water :)
Another great weekend adventure for the Corrigans. Mattie had a blast and that is always the best part :)
XOXO
