Each day when I pick her up she tells me how much fun she has had playing with her new friends. I LOVE to hear that. She even told me that she loves me, but she also loves Mrs. Kristen (her teacher). LOVE IT!!! I really like her teacher. At the end of last week Mrs. Kristen ask me to send her an email letting her know how Mattie was liking class below is a little excerpt from her response.
Mattie is quite shy upon me greeting her and entering the classroom. As soon as she unpacks her backpack and sits in her circle, it begins to wear off. She has great observational skills and she tends to do what the other kids are doing. As soon as we begin the circle time schedule, she will request to do a job when I ask for volunteers. She enjoys being a helper which is a great skill for our room because I can allow her to lead and model but I can also ask her to help someone else if she has already had a turn.
Mattie has definitely taken a liking to one student and I knew it would be a great match. This one student adores Mattie and will be asking tomorrow where she is. With regards to the other students, she has been grouped with a boy for our rotations and they had a lot of fun playing catch with frogs outside today, using nets. She may not remember his name but she will by next week. At lunch today, she asked another student about his cup and he didn't hear her because he was 3 seats over. I asked her speak a little louder and she did but it was still fairly soft. Next I prompted her to come around to me and we would ask together so that I could be sure he heard her. She was okay with dropping it and not asking but I wanted her to have the interaction with the other student.
My sweet Mattie!!! Wow how the time flies. I can't believe we are already in a 3 year old program at school!!
