Hi All,
Getting back at it with part 2 of our Colorado vacation. We had so much fun and I took so many pictures that it had to be split into two posts.
Our last day in Colorado Springs was a busy one. We got up early of course, and I had my first Dutch Brothers coffee. It was the most amazing coffee I have ever had...EVER. Blows Starbucks out of the water. I now want to vacation in the Pacific Northwest just to have this coffee. Let's just say it started my day out on the right foot. Once I was fueled with caffeine it was off to Pike's Peak, elevation 14,114 feet.

I had no idea that Pikes Peak would be such an adventure. Graham came in pretty handy. Because we had an infant we were able to drive all the way to the top instead of taking the shuttle. I will say there were times when it was kind of a scary drive. Like, no railing if your car goes off the side you are plunging to your death scary.
I was so nervous on this drive up. When you start the ascent up the mountain this park lady gives you a list of instructions. Keep it in low gear, drink lots of water so you don't get altitude sickness at the top, turn off your ac so your car doesn't over heat, did I mention drink lots of water so you don't end up on the medical list. All I could think was dear God please don't let me get carted off this mountain on a stretcher!! Once those words were out of her mouth I was like, "everyone start drinking water...now...as much as you can...all the water in your water bottles." You know me, always have to find something to worry about. Luckily for us we had stayed pretty hydrated the whole trip to try to avoid altitude sickness, so we were good. I will say when we got to the top I was a little lightheaded at first, but after a few minutes I was good to go. Altitude is such a crazy thing.

After a glorious morning at Pike's Peak it was time to hit the road and head to Aspen for the night. We had about a 3 hour drive through Independence Pass which was really cool.

| No snow but it was still cool. |
Wednesday morning we got up and headed out to Maroon Bells. This was one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. I could have stayed there forever. Pictures can never do it justice. It was a pretty amazing experience, just walking/hiking in such an amazing place.

After an incredible morning hiking and taking in all that Maroon Bells had to offer, it was time to get back on the road and make our way back towards Denver. We literally picked the best time to be at Maroon Bells. The Aspen Trees were at their peak and were so beautiful. I was totally obsessed with them. It was breathtaking just being in such a beautiful place.

Passing back through Independence Pass. This time Graham was awake . |
The last couple of days of our trip was spent with Adam's family to celebrate his cousin Eric's wedding. We had such a blast. Graham and Mattie finally got to meet their cousin Brooklyn. It was so fun to get to spend a couple of days with family before heading back home.

We had such a great time out in Colorado. But all good things must come to an end. We enjoyed a nice brunch with everyone before we left, and Graham and Brooklyn said their goodbyes until next time :)
Until next time Colorado.
XOXO
