L.A. / Disneyland Bound Part 1

Hi All,

We hope you all are enjoying the beginning of summer, because we sure are.  Mattie finished Pre-K3 with a great little end of the year program.  I have to admit that I am sad that it is over.  She had an amazing teacher that I just loved, and wonderfully awesome kids in her class.  Adam and I went to her Open House and it was fun for Adam to get to see her classroom and some of the things that she gets to do everyday.  Her class also had an end of the year program that was super cute.  So super proud of my smart girl!

Showing us her favorite thing to play on, on the playground.
Last Day of School!

Mattie's last day of school was on a Thursday and Adam's parents came into town on Friday.  We were super pumped to have them visit.  They had planned to come out for a visit and for us all to drive down to L.A. and to Disneyland.  Mattie was so excited!

Everybody's ready to hit the road!!!
We wanted to take the prettiest route to L.A. and of course that would be Hwy 1 South along the coast.  We took our time and stopped frequently on the way down to enjoy the views and just the awesomeness of the California coast.

Point Lobos State Park.  Kind of a grey day, but still amazing!

Learning how to skip rocks.

Next Stop: Bixby Bridge

Next Stop: McWay Falls

Next Stop: Big Sur

We stopped at this lodge and restaurant for lunch.  Not expecting it to be that good and it turned out to be awesome!
Nice patio lunch with an beautiful view!
Our view!!!
Adam and I have never been further south along the coast than Big Sur, so after this stop it was VT (Virgin Territory) for everyone.

When we pulled off to take in some sights someone had painted these rocks and left them.  I thought they were pretty awesome.

Our last stop of the day was at Elephant Seal Beach just south of Big Sur.  We over heard the waitress at our restaurant talking about how it is a must see.  It was completely amazing. There were so many seals on the beach it was unbelievable!  It was so crazy how close we were to them.  They come ashore a few months a year to birth, breed and molt.  This was such a really cool thing to get to see.  Mattie loved it!

We ended up stopping for the night just south of Big Sur.  We had a good night's sleep and then it was back on the road first thing in the morning.  We were all super excited to finish up the drive and get to our hotel in Anaheim, and Mattie was ready to get to Disneyland.

On our way south we were able to stop in Santa Barbra and see the church where Adam's grandparents were married in 1944.  It was so neat to see that beautiful church.

Next Stop Malibu… we took a little detour and quickly drove through Malibu.  BEAUTIFUL!

We finally made it to our hotel in Anaheim.  Our hotel was across the street from Disneyland and Adam's dad made sure our room was high enough to be able to see the fireworks that Disney does each night.  AMAZING!  We really picked a great time to go to Disneyland, other than the fact that Mattie is at an awesome age, it is also the park's 60th anniversary!

Watching the fireworks with CC and Grampa.

I have a ton of pictures and videos that I am sifting through, so this is taking a little longer than I thought.  I am also going to be splitting this trip up into a couple of different posts due to the number of pictures and videos.  So I am going to end this post here.  :)

Up Next:  Disneyland Adventures!!!!
